Loved her book. I lost my husband in 1998 to cancer after a two & half year fight. We had been at the Indianapolis racetrack for the 1997 mopor meet. I have a 1970 charger we were rebuilding & were there to get parts. My husband had been in remission at the time but passed before we got the charger finished. I still have it. I was so excited to meet you there & get your autograph! My heart goes out to you, for I have waked in you shoes!

Thank you John for sharing Alicia‘s and your story. Prayers for you, your family and friends. My Mom was diagnosed with cancer. She went through radiation, but passed from complications stemming from the treatment. It will be 2 years this March since she passed. My Dad and I think of her everyday, although some days are harder than others. I am going to share this book with my friend who just got diagnosed with cancer. I hope she will find the courage and strength to be able to have her cancer Sit and Stay. Thank you for sharing Alicia’s story.

I bought the book and cd for my brother who had just lost his wife. They were both heartwarming and you can really feel the love you had for each other.

I started reading In The Driver’s Seat last night and it was hard to quit reading. Easy read and like how Alicia was her own advocate for her health. Also, see as vital on how all affected John and his perspective. Love their support and true love for each other. Very special! I believe as Alicia, we do need to do own research and advocate for ourselves and others. What a strong, intelligent woman of faith. Got my book yesterday and the CD. I cant wait to read this. I know its gonna be tough to read cause of what Alicia went through and the love and admiration John had for her is amazing! I think everyone should listen to the CD and you can hear and feel the emotion Johns pours into every song. Thanks for all you all do.

Very good book. It is interesting, informative and entertaining all at the same time. A heartwarming story that makes you feel as if you knew Alicia personally.

I read the book and couldn’t put it down. Very well written and spoke from the heart of not only Alicia, but all those involved with her medical journey. Highly recommend.

What an amazing, heart-felt book. You need to have tissues nearby while reading about Alicia’s struggles in her fight with cancer. I love the way John wrote it out in alternating views from her perspective then his. This should be number one on NY Times best sellers list!

Having had sarcoma surgery in 2012, could relate to so much of “Your Smile” experience about hurry up and get this scan, hurry get that scan, then hear, “oh it’s the holiday or weekend, you won’t hear results for a few days.” And the packed waiting rooms, then leave you alone in a little room to ponder/worry way too long about what they are going to say. Have followed your”C” You Tube sessions that you and Alicia did, saw you ask/looking for “my smile “ at the Christmas concert in South Pittsburg, the great times/memories at The Dunlap Mercantile. Thank you for finishing Alicia’s memoir that she started. But it’s not finished. She’s waiting patiently to say, “what took you so long”. “Go do! One step, one breath, one day at a time”

I have been a fan since Dukes. I now have all of the movies. I have watched to die fro over 30 times. I follow Johns updates on fakebook. But I jumped at the chance to learn more about Alicia. I bought the book, In The Drivers Seat! I literally could not put it down. I read the whole book in 3 days. Even though I knew how it the story ends it still broke my heart: “My Smile” was one tough lady! And we all need to remember to stay in “The Drivers Seat” when it comes to navigating the medical system. I recommend this book to everyone! But especially anyone who had a disease that requires a lot of medical intervention!

I read this book in less than 24 hours! I *never* do that. The open, insightful and compelling thoughts and clear conversational writing drew me in and wouldn’t let go. The book was fabulous…..a look into her journal of going through this horrible cancer with her husband by her side …the bravery of sharing this intimate part of her life …and both through this battle …and somehow she knowing possibly giving strength to others going through this battle by sharing and yet redefines what we are going through (loss)and this will be with us in our new journeys forever with our memories and I do believe it helps and gives us the strength to pay it forward by helping ones going through what we are going through Thank You

This book....where do I start? I read it in one day. It reads so well that I can almost hear Alicia telling the story in her own voice. What an amazing woman!!! She cared for others more than herself. I cannot wait to meet her someday and I am sure she is the same as she says "on earth as it is in Heaven!" Buy this book!!!!

So far so good on this book but I haven’t read much of it yet. I’m sure it’s pretty good though and kind of triggered me because I had cancer last year and I really didn’t have any support so at least it didn’t take very long to get the diagnosis and have surgery And be cancer free it’s been over a year and I’m still cancer free. I don’t have to have any chemo radiation. I had uterine cancer but we caught it really early so I was interested in reading her book in case God forbid something should happen again maybe I’ll be a little more prepared , and a little more proactive

I read the whole book in one setting! I am truly sorry John lost his Smile! The pain that Alecia went through I could not imagine! I know she is happy and pain free with Father in heaven! I loved everything about the book!

Certainly, here's a revised version: --- I received my book a couple of days ago, but unfortunately, due to the weather, I was only able to pick it up from my mailbox today. I'm eager to begin reading this journey of love and loss. As God's children, we believe that everything in life has a purpose. While I haven't experienced the loss of a husband, I did lose my father over 30 years ago, and the pain still feels fresh. I've learned to navigate life without his physical presence, but the ache endures. I can't fully comprehend what Mr. Schneider is going through, but I believe that with time, he will heal, glean wisdom from this experience, and reunite with his loved one in heaven. May God keep everyone safe, bringing peace and strength to continue forward on this path.

I finished “In The Driver’s Seat” in a little over 4 hours, it is an AMAZING book! It is well-written. I love the perspective readers have of Alicia as she navigates the health care system. This book allowed me to see through Alicia’s eyes what patients go through in our health care system. As a mental health care manager I hope to be able to pass on what I’ve learned from this book to clients who are facing health issues.
